Being able to use a computer and access the Internet
are “musts” for students today including those in
elementary and middle schools. That need only grows
stronger as they move on to high school, college and
the workforce. Our
17-workstation computer lab offers two programs for
scholars aged 6 to 17:
teaches
students how to use popular software
applications, ranging from animation and photo
editing to
word processing and desktop publishing, and from
spreadsheets and databases to programming and
operating systems; and
Computer Connections
shares how to research information and tap resources
on the Internet to assist in homework and projects.
Both programs help students build the computer
skills they need to succeed. But we don’t just
show students how to use technology—we teach them
how to use it safely. We warn students about
the pitfalls and dangers that can lurk in
cyberspace, and how to avoid them.
