Activities & Clubs

At the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center, kids and teens have fun taking part in activities and clubs that boost their knowledge and let them explore new interests, such as:

  • Sew ‘N Know — Boys and girls alike discover that the sewing machine can be a power tool as they design their own fashions and learn how to run a small business.
  • What’s in a Book? — Reading for fun soars to a new height in this club by bringing stories to life through drama and art, such as RWLC's "Blacks in Wax" event.
  • Junior Bennett Belles — Girls aged 10 to 15 combine competitive team step dancing with community service and college prep.  Besides competing in regional competitions, this award-winning team has performed at the National Council of Negro Women’s Black Family Reunion on the Mall and Bennett College in Greensboro, NC.

In addition to these and other activities, students receive specialized tutoring and homework assistance to enhance academic achievement.  They can also sharpen their computer, research, math and reading skills in the Center’s technology lab
